A Poem
One More Leaf Fallen
Are you ever filled with a desire to get close to the Earth? It comes on quickly like missing the last step in the staircase. And you have to drop down to the level of the dirt. Belly to the grass, tops of the feet on the cool ground. One more leaf fallen and left, precisely as you landed. For a moment, called home.

Where it came from
I wrote this poem, I think, in the middle of a work day at home. After staring a screen for hours, I was overcome by a need to put my feet in the grass. I walked into the front yard barefoot, laid out a quilt, and brought my journal.
Yes to this! When I used to work in a hospital I would feel trapped away from the earth. I still get the urge to lay in the grass and look at the sky. I ignore it too often!!
